| 1. What benefits did the Sugarloaf Pipeline bring to the region? |
Benefits to the region from the Sugarloaf Pipeline include:
- Recipients of the $5 million Regional Benefits Grants Program were announced in September 2009 and the 31 community groups receiving funding are currently implementing their projects to improve services and facilities across the region.
- Six water access points were built along the Sugarloaf Pipeline's route (between Yea and Yarra Glen) to allow the Country Fire Authority to safely take water from the Sugarloaf Pipeline for firefighting purposes.
- The Sugarloaf Pipeline Alliance contributed $200,000 each to Murrindindi and Yarra Ranges shire councils for the provision of additional community support services, as stipulated by the Victorian Government.
- The Sugarloaf Pipeline has provided a substantial economic injection into the region.
- The Sugarloaf Pipeline Alliance donated $45,000 to community groups across the region.
- The Sugarloaf Pipeline Alliance donated $500,000 to Yarra Ranges Shire Council to co-fund the sealing of roads in the Yarra Glen area.
- More than 1200 full-time jobs were created across the region by the Sugarloaf Pipeline.
